Book: Heat Wave by Remi Laine

The first half of the book follows Kev and Abel, two alphas searching for their omega. The idea of a dating site specifically designed to match packs with omegas is really unique, and I loved the originality. I also appreciated how much Kev and Abel cared about August, the omega they arranged a date with, and the conversations they had about his comfort and consent during their first heat together. [I was disappointed by the one-year time jump immediately afterward, which skips over all the relationship and character development. Instead of seeing them grow into a pack, we’re simply told they’re happy together. (hide spoiler) ]
I also loved the concept of Heat Wave, a resort where omegas can take control of their heats. In a world where omegas are often treated like second-class citizens—at least based on what we see—the idea of a space where they are safe and fully in control is really powerful. Unfortunately, the impact of Heat Wave felt diminished because there just weren’t enough pages dedicated to it. With only about 50 pages spent there, it felt like too much story compressed into too little space.
Overall, the premise is strong, but the story needed more development. I wanted a clearer sense of character motivations, deeper relationship growth, and more world-building. A lot of heavy topics are introduced without being given the depth they deserve. Even an additional 50 pages would have made a huge difference in letting the story fully breathe.
