Unable to find a job in Seattle, Poppy agrees to move back to her home state of Texas, something she told herself she'd never do, for a job as a nanny. Not quite how she expected to use her teaching degree, but close enough to still make a difference on a little one's life. But when she shows up in the small town of Lindley, the woman she thought hired her to nanny for HER, she finds out her new boss is actually the hot, cocky bull rider that was in her bar a few months prior.
When his ex situationship and friend, Brooke, shows up at his house with a baby claiming that he's the father, Dalton's life is thrown into a tailspin. Not having strong relationships with his family, he leans on his friends and chosen family to help get him through the tough parts of raising his daughter Cora alone. So when Fable continues to push a nanny and he keeps saying no, he should've known his friend would take matters into her own hands and meddle. Cue Poppy!
Like Vee's other books, Stay Wild Darlin' was a very fun story to read, but never shied away from the tough (read: real) reality of never fitting in with their families and being loved the way they should've been. Due to that past family trauma, they both struggle with coming to terms with understanding the love they're deserving of, which is relatable for a lot of people who will read this book, myself included.
Poppy and Dalton's story was one of similar but different upbringings proving that while money may buy you things, it can't buy happiness or love, and they were both very dedicated to ensuring Cora had that in her life. The spicy scenes were SPICY and I've never really read a story with that kind of kink 👀 but absolutely made sense for Dalton.
I really enjoy this series and can't wait for book three. That ending? Hellooooooo!!
