Raise your hand if you’ve been personally victimized by Gretchen Powell Fox. 🙋🏻♀️
Splintered Kingdom is a brilliant follow-up to Smoke and Scar that dives even deeper into the vibrant, layered world Fox has created. The story picks up in the aftermath of the Crucible, with the characters forced to confront what they’ve lost, and what’s at stake, as they embark on a dangerous journey to recover the pieces of a shattered crown.
I loved this book so much. The slow-burn romantasy actually delivers, which is something I never take for granted. Gretchen weaves yearning and tension so beautifully, letting it simmer without ever overstaying its welcome. Every interaction felt intentional, emotionally charged, and completely earned. This series continues to have its claws in me, and I am absolutely invested in where this story goes next.
