Ivy’s brother inherits an English estate, and duo leaves New York City for Victorian England. Ivy is an infamous sapphic poet, whose reputation reaches as far as the crown. Determined to win their community over, Ivy and Prescott join the high society while simultaneously try to make the conditions for their villagers better. Ivy meets Freya, the season’s “Incomparable”. Freya takes interest in Ivy, as she introduces her to society life, and soon, it’s clear that there is chemistry there. But what is a socialite to do? Her father has already indicated that he intends on Freya matching with Lord Montgomery. Freya will have to figure out what matters most to her, her sense of duty, or a passionate love match.
Where There’s Room For Us is a fun, low spice sapphic read. While the romance is the main story here, it is also a tale of sisterhood, challenging your beliefs, & choosing and finding one’s self. It’s a sapphic Bridgerton-like story, minus all the steamy sex scenes, making it much more appropriate for a coming of age / young adult audience. There are a few loose ends I would have liked to seen tied up a little more, but overall, this was a great escape from the day to day & lifted my mood. I can’t wait to read more of Hayley Kiyoko’s books!
