⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️A powerful and unforgettable audiobook.
Thank you to Sourcebooks for the ALC audiobook of The Mountains We Call Home by Kim Michele Richardson. All thoughts are my own.
This was a 5 star listen all the way. Kim Michele Richardson writes Appalachian history with so much heart, respect, and truth. Cussy Lovett’s story is emotional, gritty, and deeply moving, and this book shows the power of literacy, books, and the women who carried hope into places that needed it most.
Katie Schorr’s narration was beautiful. She brought warmth, emotion, and authenticity to the story, making the audiobook feel personal and alive.
As someone from this area, this book hit me hard. These mountains, these communities, and this history feel close to home. The Mountains We Call Home is heartbreaking, hopeful, and absolutely worth listening to.
Highly recommend for historical fiction readers and audiobook lovers.
