This cozy fantasy was fun to read. I enjoyed the FMC, Dassia, and her best friend and dragon, Etchling, and their unique relationship. The story is from the POV of Dassia. The pacing of the book starts out pretty slow but is still engaging enough to want to continue to read. The pacing is faster about 3/4th of the way into the book.
I enjoyed the world that was described in the book. It seems to be in the setting similar to King Arthur and the knights of the round table kind of setting. It was easy for me to understand the type of world the characters were in and dragon magic was a fun addition. The authors have a few fun surprises in store for the world they created!
The main character, Dassia, has problems with anxiety and trusting people. Through the whole story this a major theme for her. The authors do a good job with the anxiety rep and the character growth that she goes through was easy to feel and follow. I definitely recommend this book.
