I absolutely loved Delaney and Ryker’s marriage of convenience romance. They come together under horrific circumstances — please, please check your trigger warnings — but the way they show up for each other is so tender and unwavering. It makes their love feel completely believable, even as it grows quickly under the weight of everything they’ve endured.
I’ve always had a soft spot for Ryker. There’s just something about a Beneventi man that makes me feral. He is the ultimate protector, ready to sacrifice everything to keep Delaney safe. I love how much he values her feistiness and independence — even when she’s giving him hell. He’s the one worried their marriage might trap her, because putting her first comes naturally to him. And yes, the dark hair, blue eyes, tattoos, and speaking Italian? I’m gone.
My heart broke for Delaney and her fight toward a better life. Her backstory is one of the most tragic Bella Matthews has written, but watching her find her people in Lexie, Dillan, and Kaleigh was everything. Every woman deserves a friend group like that. And Delaney herself? So easy to love. Her internal thoughts are low-key hilarious, and she has such a big heart. The way she started learning ASL for Ryker before they were even a couple? It felt like fate from the very beginning.
Together, they are everything. The trust, admiration, and devotion between them shine through in every moment. They don’t just fall in love — they save each other.
