Cole and Charlotte were star crossed high school sweethearts of a sort, then life got in the way. And by life I mean Cole's jerk of a father. The scenes that are shown from their past as teenagers are everything I wish I had at that age. They clearly already felt so much for each other.
Fast forward to being 30 and Cole is now the jerk billionaire. When news of her dad's passing puts Cole back in Charlotte's life he tries to collect on their marriage pact. Lottie eventually agrees, and a fake marriage is born, complete with a contract.
This is a really cute story. Charlotte and Cole have great chemistry and such love for each other. It is fun seeing them find their way back to it even after years. The spice between them is plenty hot, their interactions are fraught with tension as well.
But my favorite is after Cole inevitably screws things up, and Charlotte gives up on him to go back to her dad's house. Once he gets his head out of his rear end, the ways he makes it up to her are just perfect. I loved seeing him make steps to bring about what is important to him in his life.
There are also a lot of really sweet moments of grief for Lottie's father, who they both loved. He had such a huge impact on both their lives, and it's easy to see why when you hear them speak about him.
This book kept me hooked so much that I could not put it down. I absolutely loved it!
