Book: A Magic So Deadly by Vasilisa Drake

A Magic So Deadly is the romantasy sequel to A Bargain So Bloody, wherein Samara finds herself entangled with the mysterious Raphael, who turns out to be a vampire king. Now though, Samara is also a vampire and struggling to come to terms with her new reality and all the teachings and ideals she had ever known.
While there is still an intensity and air of mystery to things, A Magic So Deadly is relatively straight forward. I actually enjoyed the slower pacing and the delicious slow-burn as Samara navigates her relationship, her feelings, and her newfound situation. Raphael breaks my heart but in a good way; he’s supportive but recognizes and understands the need to draw Samara out of the headspace she is in. This book felt like a really nice date where I got to get to know the characters and explore/see more of the world but in a very gentle and pleasant way.
Thank you so much to Vasilisa Drake for the gifted ARC! I can’t wait to see what’s next!
