Book: The Mistral by Felix Mosse

The Mistral by Felix Mosse is a heavily detailed fantasy that can be likened to authors such as Brandon Sanderson and John Gwynne.
The world building is really immersive with great attention to detail. I cannot begin to imagine the complexity of Mosse's plotting!
With books as indepth, detailed, and plot heavy as The Mistral is, I usually find I am able to read and lose myseld in it much more, when I am consuming it in physical format. This book was unfortunately no exception and could be a big part of why I didn't enjoy it more.
As with most first books in a fantasy series, there is a lot to take in, and if you aren't either someone who takes notes, annotate, or have an enviable memory bank, you could struggle with the level of detail that comes with this story.
I do like Mosse's particularly writing style, once it has the ability to flow, and has moved past the descriptive elements.
I would have liked to have felt a deeper connection to the characters, to have developed an investment with them, but I hope this will come with book two. My fear is, that many readers will have forgotten a majority of the plot by the time the next book is released, as without connecting to the characters, it's very hard for a reader to feel anything for details and plot points.
This said, this could very well be a reread for me, once the physical copies are released. I want to give this a better chance to win me over, and I think that comes with having the actual book in my hand. I will of course update my reviews when that happens.
