While I enjoyed the mystery and intrigue in Written on Ice , I wanted more depth from the romance. The first half of the book (and it’s a tight ~300 pages) leans heavily into push and pull, so by the time the relationship shifts, the back half feels rushed. Luna goes from loudly insisting she hates Zayden to being unable to stay away from him, and I didn’t quite see enough emotional groundwork laid to fully sell that transition.
For a story that highlights a twin flame/soulmate connection, I expected the bond to feel more powerful and undeniable on the page. The chemistry is there, but I wanted more vulnerability, more shared moments, more weight behind the shift from animosity to devotion.
Also, reader beware: this one ends on a cliffhanger. I’m hopeful the second book will slow things down and give us more time with Luna and Zayden as a solid, fully developed couple.
