I was immediately drawn into this story by the dedication alone. As someone who struggles with anxiety, connecting with Maeve happened instantly. It was so refreshing (and empowering!) to see an FMC who is turning into a total badass while simultaneously dealing with debilitating anxiety. It felt real.
The Plot: Maeve just wanted a normal life, but fate—and the Goddess Blythe—had other plans. Thrust into the Caelestis Academy, she has to navigate training, powers she didn't ask for, and being away from her family. I loved the found family aspect she built with Pia, who helped her navigate this new world.
The Romance: Enter Sebastian. 😮💨 The Prince and her Protector. Because Maeve is the first to be blessed by Blythe, she’s a hot commodity, and the protection aspect here is top-tier. The banter? Top-notch. The slow burn? Agonizing in the best way.
What I loved most was that despite Seb dealing with his own demons, he was there for Maeve every single time she spiraled. (Also, honorable mention to Sawyer... I sense a vibe there 👀).
The Ending: That cliffhanger was BRUTAL. The betrayal was absolute perfection and I am unwell. I need book two immediately.
