A Journey Through Love, Loss, and Unfolding Power

Reviewed by Ashley M

Plot Summary: Seph Hart is stranded and heartbroken. Her mission: rescue Alex from a demon prince. Her journey with Simon spans multiple worlds, revealing a sinister conspiracy and forcing Seph to finally confront and claim her emerging Graveborn powers.

Writing Style: Vivid imagery and sharp, witty dialogue. Excellent at balancing high-stakes action with levity (via Simon).

Character Development: Seph is polarizing—deeply devoted but occasionally impulsive and petulant. Her "obsidian door" breakthrough marks a major turning point in her growth.

World-building: Expansive portal-hopping across diverse worlds. While imaginative, the rapid introduction of new creatures (like Fae nobility) can feel overwhelming.

Themes: Sacrifice, betrayal, the burden of power, and single-minded devotion.

Recommendation: For fans of The Mortal Instruments , From Blood and Ash , or ACOTAR .
