A grumpy romance audiobook narrator who hates romance books AND a romance bookstore owner???
I’m so so so sold!!! 🤭🤭
“You are the most unforgettable woman I have ever met, Lola. Even if I wanted to, I could never wipe you from my mind. It’s a privilege to know you, to be touched by your light."
Lola, I absolutely adored her, the way she gives so much of herself without expecting anything in return, how she remembers the smallest details about the people she loves, and how despite everything she went through growing up, she still has so much love to give
Her anger towards men who look down on romance books was so valid to me, and the way it was written perfectly captured how I’ve always felt about the way people dismiss romance as a genre.
This book really showed the depth of romance books and why they mean so much to so many of us, and I’m so obsessed with that!!!
“I can’t give you up, Lola. It’s like asking me to stop breathing, or to let myself starve to death. The idea of being away from you destroys me."
And then we have Tyler, our grumpy narrator who wants absolutely nothing to do with love or romance, but somehow ends up falling for the biggest romantic ever 🤭
What I loved most about him was that underneath all that grumpiness was a man who had been through so much and was still struggling to see himself as someone deserving of love and happiness.
And Lola saw right through him, she saw the man behind all those scars and mistakes, and I loved how she didn’t let those things define him.
The way she made him want to become a better man, to work on himself and give love another chance after being so convinced he was done with it 🥹
I loved watching their relationship develop, especially how two people with such different views on romance ended up finding something so beautiful in each other. they felt so real and I loved that o much about the books as well.
And can we please talk about how stunning the cover is, It’s in my favorite color too!!! 💙💙
