Death at the Altar is the third book in the Mary Shelley series, and while I wish I had had the time to read the first 2 books first, that is more out of personal preference than a need as it can stand on its own. Apparently, trouble always finds Mary, and she takes on the task of solving the mystery, and we get to read a great story, as a result.
The book starts very heavy as Mary and Percy navigate life after the loss of their baby, and then her stepsister, Claire, does something so egregious that I think I would have put her out on the street right then, but Mary is a kinder soul than I and found her some place to go. Mary and Percy then go to a wedding where a murder happens, and the mystery that follows kept me turning the pages to find out what happens next and who the murderer is.
This was a great read, and now I’m going to go back and read the first 2 books in the series. I rated this book 5 out of 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
