Looking at the other reviews on Goodreads, I realise I'm in the minority with my thoughts about this book.
First, the story was interesting: hunting other killers and monsters, infiltrating and taking down a secret society of serial killers. The premise was good. Stevie is someone accustomed to death, with a deep respect for the departed. Her reactions to all she has to endure and live through, even with Sebastian's support, are good to see because, at least to me, it's realistic.
She keeps it together while utterly screaming inside.
Sebastian is your usual obsessive, possessive, but down-bad guy for his woman.
So why didn't I love this story more? Why was it just an "alright" one in my mind? I think it's the writing style. I thought about it for a while: the writing style is probably why I didn't enjoy it as much as I wished I did.
It's not bad at all; it's not overly flowery, blue prose or complicated. The author wrote and wove the story well.
It's simply not for me.
