A fun second book

Book: House of Byrne (The Mortuary Misfits) by H.B. Elliott

I had listened to the previous book in the series, so I was happy to find Malek and Sev again. Those two have my heart, and Malek is so funny . . . I know a crucifix shouldn’t be shoved in people’s rectums, but . . . hear me out . . .

Anyway, Declan and Bridget were sometimes frustrating. Bridget is a brat as much as a queen and a klutz. Declan is the one cleaning up behind her, plus he is a geek and IT guy. IYKYK.

The story alternates between tense moments, slower ones, and comedy that had me laughing to tears in the middle of my work. I blame the author.

The narrator’s performance was amazing; Lauren did a wonderful job voicing Bridget and making her sound so different from Seven. Corvin has an excellent voice; he offered a good performance, but his Irish accent left me a bit unsatisfied.

I really enjoyed the story, happy for those characters, happy for Simon as well. And RIP to Malek . . . Good Luck being a girl dad. May your hair and your blood pressure survive.
