Book: Barbara Truscoe and the Tea of Truth by Peter Berry

What a fun premise! A mystery bookshop shows up right when Barbara Truscoe needs it, and her gift with purchase was a small vial of a tea of truth. Just one drop in a person’s drink makes them only speak the truth for one hour. In some ways, it was fun; in others, you could see how it would be problematic and could go wrong if placed in the wrong hands. Fortunately, the shopkeeper knew that Barbara is a kind person. I love the Truscoe family dynamics and that they have a cat named Duchess Poppet because I like when books include pets, especially when they’re funny in their own right! And while the story did delve into a couple of heavier topics, overall it was witty, funny, and sweet. 5 out of 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
