When writer Rose Sheridan’s mother is kidnapped, she teams up with her former acquaintance and crush, Cal Masters, to solve the mystery and find her mother. Their relationship is the exact opposite of a slow-burn; from almost the moment they reunite after not seeing each other for a year, Cal and Rose immediately feel a return of their former feelings for each other, and the truth of their feelings comes tumbling out mere hours after reuniting. There are only two small complications: Rose’s possessive ex, Niko, and her cousin, Maggie, who does not think Cal can be trusted.
The storyline was engaging, and there were definitely a few plot twists that I didn’t see coming! I hope to read more about Rose and Cal in the future and see how their relationship turns out.
