Watcher was a fascinating beginning to The Seer Chronicles , blending historical fiction, supernatural elements, romance, and some very dark and emotional subjects.
Gregor has spent centuries believing he is destined to remain alone, but everything changes when he discovers Ayola, an enslaved infant who is also a Seer. I really enjoyed learning about the Seers and Guardians, especially Gregor’s relationship with Wolk and his sweet “Woosh” connection with Ayola.
Some scenes involving slavery, abuse, and exploitation were very difficult to read, but the moments of love, healing, friendship, and found family brought hope to the story. By the end, Gregor had finally found a home and a purpose, while Ayola’s journey was only beginning. I couldn’t wait to continue with River .
