A Dark Mafia Romance With a Romeo and Juliet Vibe

Book: The Mafia's Son by E.D. Crowe

I love a good mafia story with morally gray and completely unhinged characters, so The Mafia’s Son was exactly my kind of read. Briar and Valentina come from rival mafia families, giving their story a Romeo and Juliet vibe, but neither one can stay away from the other.
Briar is the youngest O’Brien sibling, a hacker with a bounty on his head. Valentina is Roman Bruno’s Deaf younger sister, trapped in an arranged engagement and controlled by her family. I liked that she kept fighting to make choices for herself.
Their connection starts at a masked party, before either one knows who the other really is, and the tension was there right away. Briar is possessive, obsessive, and completely unhinged when it comes to Valentina, but he was exactly the kind of dark hero this story needed. Their promise, “If you die, I die,” was such a perfect way to show how far they would go for each other.
I enjoyed seeing Briar’s softer side with his sisters, and Maeve, Killian, Sloane, Collins, Hayes, and Ello all added something important to their journey. This one gets very dark, with trafficking, violence, stalking, and control themes, so it will not be for every reader. If you enjoy dark mafia romance, high spice, family enemies, obsession, revenge, and a couple fighting for their own future, this is one to check out.
