For a debut novel, I think Juniper Skye did a fantastic job. I won't lie, at the start of the story, I was very confused with what was happening, and I felt as though the story was doing a LOT of telling rather than showing what was happening which is something I really disliked (personal preference and not the fault of the author), but I did find that the story eventually stopped doing that, I was able to enjoy the story and the journey that Nathan and Will went through (a journey I'm still mad about for the record).
One thing I really enjoyed about this story was the way Will and Nate grew into their romance, I loved that their relationship wasn't an issue for the majority of the people within their world, I felt that (ignoring Will's dad), they were able to love one another without issue, and I truly believe their love was something beautiful, even if it took some time for them to get back to one another.
The book itself was quite fast paced and I personally would've liked the yearning to happen a little longer, I felt that they found their way back to one another pretty fast, especially when the bond was gone, it left me wondering as to whether the bond was fully broken or not. I did, however, like that once they found their way back to one another, they didn't instantly just go back to normal. I really liked that they grew into their new friendship and learnt more about one another before pursuing anything romantically.
In addition to the romance, I liked the magical realism element, and I like learning things about Nathan and Will that I didn't see coming from a mile off. I was left really intrigued by their story, and I would've loved to read more about it. I also like the way the world was built regarding the magical realism, and that it elaborated on different powers.
Finally, there was a tiny little bit of smut within the book, I think it was done very well, and I loved the moments that happened surrounding the smut. I don't really know what I expected of their dynamics when it came to sexual scenes, but I found the scenes very interesting to say the least.
Would definitely read another book by Juniper!
