This is book 2 of the Duology but the world building doesnโt let up, itโs epic and ethereal and is perfect for the setting and story. The way the author writes her worlds is like no other. The layers of emotion and struggle she writes into each chapter are what draws you in and hooks you down through your bones!
The pace was steady which must have been hard to maintain what with the amount of things going on, yet we never got any info dumps and I never felt lost, overwhelmed or bored. Monas writing style is one that I love, I have read a few of her books now, this is the spiciest one so far for me and boy did I devour every last bit. There were so many twists and turns along the way that I was kept guessing right until the very end.
There are life and death situations, fae magic, curses, chaos, monstrous forces and sooooo many secrets itโs addictive and kept me up till early morning hours.

The characters in this story absolutely made the book for me! Not only the main characters but the animal sidekicks, and the side characters we met along the way.
The banter, sarcasm and wit were brilliant throughout. Relationships formed through adversity, struggle and intense pressure giving the reader a host of truly believable characters that were emotional and unpredictable in the best possible ways!
The FMC had a great strength to her, not just sass but intelligence and pride. She was smart, bookish, kind and caring and full of questions. The MMC was broody, mysterious, protective and only soft for her!

This Duology is a feel good ride of witty antics, animal sidekicks, snarky comebacks, mysterious happenings and of course, it is full of magic. The spice is hot as pheonix fire, the plot thickened with questions, secrets and betrayals and the world building brought this ethereal world together into a great read for all romantasy lovers!

I managed to finish it but it was rubbish. I won't keep a physical copy and won't recommend it, but it's a shame as the plot could have made a good book in another author's hands

It was OK. I wish I didn't start this one as it didn't do it for me as I struggled to read it. It had an interesting premise that fell flat but I had to see what happened in the end.

I don't regret reading it, and I will read the next one, but this one did have a few flaws. [These could be repetitive writing, gaps or plot holes, better character growth or world building, areas needing more detail]
Generally, the book lacked depth and became confusing. The plot resonated with me even though it annoyed me on the whole.

I'm glad I read it. I enjoyed it and would recommend it to the right people, but I wanted more! Sadly, it's easily forgettable with a few issues I just couldn't overlook/get past.

Good book! I loved it, but... I needed more! I really did enjoy it, but it had a few parts that needed more detail or added history/background or lore. But that's because the story or characters were memorable, and the plot was strong with brilliant twists. I would re-read if I needed to catch up for the next book and would recommend.

This is my God level tier. The book must be perfectly memorable. Even after reading 50+ more books, I will remember character names and emotions along with the plot. If there is a special edition, then I need to own it! If there is a conversation on books- I'm talking about this!
