He Loves Me Knot had me hooked from the very first chapter. This is book two in Annabelle McCormack’s Wanderlust series, but it is an interconnected standalone that can be enjoyed on its own.
Lydia Winnick is traveling to Costa Rica for her sister’s destination wedding when she encounters her cocky and infuriatingly attractive boss, Callum Scott. After Lydia makes a terrible mistake, Callum unexpectedly covers for her, forcing them to pretend they are dating.
Between the missing heirloom wedding dress, the growing web of lies, family complications, and their undeniable attraction, Lydia and Callum’s tropical trip quickly becomes one chaotic adventure.
I loved the fake-dating and enemies-to-lovers tension, but the emotional depth made this more than a fun vacation romance. Lydia and Callum are both forced to confront their fears, question the choices they have been making, and look beyond their original assumptions about each other.
One of my favorite quotes was:
“How many times have I chosen to do what I know will make me miserable because it’s easier? Because changing what I’ve been doing means facing a different fear?”
That quote perfectly captures one of the strongest themes in the story. Sometimes remaining in an unhappy but familiar situation feels safer than risking an unknown future.
The romance, humor, family drama, destination-wedding chaos, and character growth created such an entertaining and heartfelt story. I loved this book and cannot wait to continue exploring the Wanderlust series.
