What a beautifully written account of a life that wasn’t always so beautiful. I love how Luanne Castle wove together the scraps of her family’s lives to create this memoir told in flashes - a grandmother who raised 3 illegitimate children on her own, a father who struggled to cope with being an illegitimate child in a time when such children were looked down upon, and Luanne herself who, with her mother, had to endure the cycles of abuse and recompense at the hands of her father before leaving and then desiring to find out who her paternal grandfather was. It is very much worth the read, and I rate it as 5 out of 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
