I think my soul may have left my body at the end of this book with that cliffhanger!!! This book is a journey of Elorie finding out who she is and her place in that world. Eva paints a vivid world full of celestial magics, different realms and intricate characters. This story follows a human girl named Elorie and the path she is forced to follow. I cannot articulate how she meets the MMCs in this, because I feel this is an emotional journey you have to take yourself. Wilder and Malachai enter her life like a raging storm and the decisions she must make are not easy or kind. For a portion of the story, I wasn't sure who Elorie should trust, who she should choose or if she was surrounded by enemies entirely.
This story is deep and intriguing while capturing your heart one line at a time. I will say that one of my favorite nicknames I've heard for an FMC from an MMC is used here, and I loved it. He called her "Starfire".
I enjoyed the side characters and their involvement in this story. You also get a few POV's, however, a majority of them are Elorie's. But the additional POVs are great when they do appear.
The power and trust struggles that unfold are a push and pull on your emotions. The last 40% of the book kept me reading and on edge. Eva makes sure you are gripping your book throughout till that painstaking cliffhanger. I just sat quietly wishing I could rewind and stop what happened.
I don't know how I will ever wait for book two, but I recommend this one. If you love fantasy world building, creative magic, emotional turmoil, slow burn/yearning, and a romantasy that pulls at your heart??? Then this is your next read!
