I knew I wanted to read Mafia Born: Blood and Vows as soon as I saw the mafia theme. This book gave me danger, family loyalty, revenge, spice and two main characters who were equally deadly.
Raina was such a badass! Sometimes I wanted to shake her because she was so stubborn but I really liked that she wasn’t a helpless mafia princess waiting for someone to rescue her. She was fearless and perfectly capable of leaving behind a trail of bodies all by herself.
Raina and Nico were truly meant for each other. Nico was ruthless, possessive and completely obsessed with her, but he never felt threatened by the woman she was. He admired her power and loved that she could be just as lethal as him. Their chemistry was immediate, intense and sometimes completely chaotic, but somehow they fit together perfectly.
The family relationships added so much to the book but Raina and Sofia’s friendship was the best for me. Sofia gave Raina a place where she could be herself without all the pressure and expectations surrounding her. I also enjoyed Matteo, Rocco and Leo, especially the humor they brought during some of the darker moments.
This story gets extremely dark and includes graphic violence, grief, kidnapping, torture, attempted assault, forced marriage and a very possessive hero. It is also very spicy, with several explicit scenes, so I definitely recommend checking all the trigger warnings first.
If you enjoy dark mafia romance with an arranged marriage, morally gray characters, family drama, a deadly heroine and an obsessive hero who falls hard, this may be the book for you!
